Arts are an integral part of the University academic activity. The research conducted in the University is related to the history, culture, and Art of East Prussia, Lithuania Minor (Prussian Lithuania), and the Klaipėda Region: it allows one to get to know the historical, linguistic, confessional, musical, and ethnical heritage and enables meaningful enhancement of its continuity opportunities.

Klaipėda University was founded in a geographical area unique from the economic, cultural, and geopolitical aspects, i.e. on the Lithuanian seaside, boasting the only port of Lithuania: at the national level, attempts are made to develop Klaipėda as a metropolitan centre and to increase the international competitiveness of Lithuania as a maritime state. Since 2008, Klaipėda University implements the State Programme of an Integrated Research, Study, and Business Centre Marine Valley for the Development of the Lithuanian Maritime Sector and thus consistently consolidates its leadership in the fields of marine sciences and technological innovations.
