Technion – Israel Institute of Technology is a public research university in Haifa, Israel. Founded in 1912, Technion is the country’s oldest university. The institute offers degrees in science and engineering, and related fields such as architecture, medicine, industrial management, and education. Although the official language of instruction at Technion is Hebrew, several undergraduate and graduate study programs and courses are taught in English through Technion International.Technion, consistently ranked among the world’s top 50, is a major source of the innovation and brainpower that drives the Israeli economy. Technion graduates represent 70 percent of the high-tech workforce and established Israel’s industrial infrastructure, reinforced its technological defense capabilities, and pioneered its technology-based enterprises, that has earned the country’s reputation as the world’s “Startup Nation” (with the highest concentration of high-tech companies anywhere outside the Silicon Valley). Guangdong-Technion Israel Institute of Technology (GTIIT): On September 29, 2013, a historic agreement was signed for the establishment of a cooperatively run university to be built in Shantou, Guangdong in southern China, as part of a partnership between the Technion and Shantou University in collaboration with the Guangdong Government and the Li Ka Shing Foundation (LKSF). The new institute will grant Technion degrees at all levels – Bachelor’s, Master’s and Ph.D., and the language of instruction will be in English. At the initial stage, the first undergraduate program offered by GTIIT in 2015 will be run as a Technion program. GTIIT represents the first time any Israeli university has moved to establish a joint campus in China.

The program exposes students to structural, economic, and construction management aspects of the physical and natural built environment, water resources planning, geoinformatics, and transportation engineering. Taught entirely in English by world-renowned Technion faculty, the prestigious BSc in Civil Engineering program trains future engineers to meet the infrastructure creation and modernization challenges of the 21st century. The program exposes students to structural, economic, and construction management aspects of the physical and natural built environment, water resources planning, geoinformatics, and transportation engineering. Students also study the underlying applications of science and engineering to the improvement and preservation of natural resources through the deployment of clean technologies and infrastructure and renewable resource alternatives.

Program Details The program prepares students for successful careers in the private, public, and governmental sectors in areas such as infrastructure and general construction, water resources management, wastewater treatment, water treatment and pollution, control, air and soil pollution and remediation and solid waste disposal. More particularly, the program focuses on management of the different stages of the construction process including a broad variety of tasks that require knowledge and skills in an assortment of management, economic, business, planning, and legal areas, in addition to proficiency in classic engineering issues. The program also provides an introduction to topics related to the design and management of water delivery and supply systems, dispersion and trace pollutants in water bodies, water, and wastewater treatment, recycling treated wastewater for use in agricultural irrigation, efficient use of water resources and development of new water sources.
