Introduction
For prime movers, clear-sighted dreamers, curators, consultants, researchers, theatre producers, copywriters, cultural movers and shakers, opinion formers, wordsmiths, activists, music gurus, masterminds, media entrepreneurs, journalists, museum directors, social entrepreneurs, individualists, funding managers, start-ups, trendscouts, program directors, radio innovators; for those with a sense of mission and for their critics.
Within the Zeppelin Universität CCM program the emphases are on the digital revolution, new media and its production, the shifts in artistic and cultural practices and emerging developments in the organization of communication and cultural processes. The program provides the means to be active and critically-engaged in the contemporary cultural sector, in media and communications and to initiate research in these areas, developing the capacity to think conceptually and supporting reflective approaches in understanding contemporary models, practices and means of distribution.
The study program focuses on a theoretical reflection on society to understand processes and to develop a profound awareness of social, artistic, media and political structures. At the same time the students have the opportunity to intervene in these processes through practice-led approaches.
Within CCM the aim is to analyze complex subjects and ideas in a contextual and a problem-directed manner. Through this approach the students acquire the ability to recognize the challenges and opportunities that communication and culture face in the current digital revolution, and the resulting changes in cultural practices.
Curriculum
Important Note: All undergraduate programs at Zeppelin University require advanced German language skills! Although 40 percent of our courses are taught in English, your knowledge of the German language should be at least on the C1 level of the CEFR in order to start a successful study program at ZU. We regret that we cannot accept applications written in English.
Program Outcome
The program aims to develop competencies in students suitable for the broad range of requirements in the contemporary management of culture and media. The University’s innovative Zeppelin and Humboldt Years provide students the creative space and intellectual latitude in which to explore interdisciplinary topics and independent learning in the development and pursuit of research projects. Through these opportunities, the BA CCM promotes the students´ research competencies, as well as their interconnectedness, nationally and internationally, and ensures and maintains strong links to an MA in CCM and a further PhD study in the fields of cultural and media studies.
