Introduction
Women’s and Gender Studies is a place for intersectional feminist scholarship, education and activism. You’ll explore how conceptions of gender and sexuality have shaped culture, society, politics, history, media, science, religion and capitalism. Our program also allows students and faculty to connect gender and sexuality studies to their work, life and other fields of study.
In our courses, we'll teach you to dialogue, analyze data, media and texts, and develop ideas through research and practice. We are uniquely situated to offer you interdisciplinary spaces to engage in feminism, scholarship and activism. We also provide ways to examine how power and privilege are conferred across gender, race, sexuality, ability and other intersecting axes of social identity.
We welcome complex arguments, embrace uncomfortable conversations and explore contradictory experiences. In collaboration with other fields of study, we engage in teaching, learning and scholarship that promotes activism and social change. We invite you to join us.
