Introduction
The mission of the undergraduate study program Engineering and Environmental Protection in Agriculture is to train specialists for the following sectors of activity:
- consulting for environmental protection,
- design and development of processes, equipment, and technologies for the control, management, and remediation of water, soil, and air quality;
- environmental assessment and assessment of the impact of engineering works on the environment;
- monitoring and ensuring compliance with environmental legislation;
- education and research.
The objectives of the study program aim to train graduates, environmental engineers capable of practicing in the specific engineering field, of local or central administration or in the academic field, who demonstrate excellence and innovation in solving environmental problems, in designing and making decisions in the current social and global context and develop a leadership attitude in professional practice.
The mission of the Faculty of Environmental Engineering and Food Science https://fimsa.valahia.ro/english/
is to promote education and scientific research by the requirements of integration into the knowledge society, which involves the consolidation and development of the European Education Area and the European Scientific Research Area by promoting excellence at the level of all activities and the ongoing processes.
The fundamental educational dimension of the contemporary University is expressed through knowledge and scientific research, to train specialists capable of adapting to the economic and cultural changes of "tomorrow's society".
The study programs of the Faculty of Environmental Engineering and Food Science, through the disciplines included in the university curriculum, ensure the integration of food, environmental, and agricultural engineering education in European education.
The food industry, environmental protection, and agriculture are sectors of major importance within the national economy, they represent the guarantee of the independent existence of the nation itself. In Romania, these industrial branches are currently in full development, which is why the need for specialists in the fields mentioned above is increasingly high.
In response to a growing demand for environmental education, food processing technologies as well as food safety, and mountain area agriculture, especially in less advanced countries, the FIMSA developed several science curricula for life sciences available for students starting in early 1992. The current science programs emphasized disciplinary strength but with sufficient integrative courses students were able to gain an appreciation of the complexity of societal demands and the need for interdisciplinary investigations of the stringent problems and solutions that we are confronting nowadays.
The mission of the Faculty of Environmental Engineering and Food Science is to train specialists with high professional, general, and specialized skills. Besides professional training, the mission of the faculty is reflected in the creation of social, human, intellectual, and spiritual values. This goal includes graduates' responsibility regarding the implementation of the three security-nutrition-food safety norms, environmental protection, and sustainable use of natural biological resources by humans, and also rural development.
