Introduction
The BM in performance is a four-year program consisting of course work in the major (individual instruction, performance class, major conducted ensemble, chamber music), core music studies (theory, aural skills, music history, conducting), and a minimum of 30 credits outside the School of Music that will provide a broad education in the spirit of the Liberal Arts Foundation. A junior and senior recital is required. The performance major is available in voice, piano, organ, violin, viola, cello, double bass, classical guitar, jazz/studio guitar, harp, flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, saxophone, horn, trumpet, trombone, euphonium, tuba, and percussion.

To be admitted to the School of Music undergraduate programs, you must also be admitted to the University of Redlands.
In addition to filing The Common Application, a Music Application and audition are required. The School of Music can only inform you of your audition results or scholarship recommendation after you have been officially admitted to the University of Redlands.
The University of Redlands offers Early Decision (Nov. 15), Early Action (Nov. 15), and Regular Decision (Jan. 15). The Transfer deadline for the fall priority decision is March 1. Applications submitted beyond these deadlines will be considered on a space-available basis. The application deadline for spring admission is November 1.
Auditions are required of all students who are planning to major or minor in music.
Auditions for spring and fall 2021 will be by video only. Once you submit your video audition you will be able to schedule an interview with our faculty.
- The deadline for spring applicants is December 1st.
- The deadline for fall applicants is March 1st.
Anyone wishing to participate in an ensemble while pursuing a major other than music is invited to apply and audition for a talent scholarship. Applicants interested in this opportunity should choose the Ensemble Only option on the music application.
Applicants must refer to the audition requirements for their primary instrument.
Video auditions should include:
- An introduction of yourself
- Answer the question "Why do you want to attend the University of Redlands?"
- Announce the title of your piece and the name of your composer before performing each of your two selections
