Short description of the university program

In line with the interdisciplinary higher education system development, the specialization Geography of Tourism aims to train specialists for tourism but also for institutions engaged in teaching and research activities. The originality of this specialization meets certain practical needs, knowing the importance which tourism enjoys currently. In this context, following the structure of the curriculum, graduates have the appropriate training in order to work in tourism. An important objective during the schooling period is to ensure a transfer of practical skills for the mentioned activities, carried out during the internship and practice period as well as during studies through their involvement in various projects. Also, theoretical and practical training will be the necessary professional milestone for their integration in the labor market. It focuses on the interdisciplinary study which raises awareness about the complex issues that tourism deals with.

The standard length of studies (in years): 3

1st of October – end of February – courses, exams, the holiday for students, and session for retakes - first semester.

End of February – mid of June – courses, exams, the holiday for students, summer practice – second semester.

Mid of June – mid of September – session for retakes and Diploma exam.

In this context, following the structure of the curriculum, graduates have the appropriate training in order to work in tourism.

The admission for EU, EEA, and Swiss Confederation candidates has 2 stages: Obtaining the recognition of previous studies from the Ministry of National Education (Certificate issued by the National Center for the Recognition and Equivalence of Diplomas); Participation of the candidates to the admission organized by the University of Oradea. 1st stage: Applying for the acknowledgment of studies (Certificate issued by the National Center for the Recognition and Equivalence of Diplomas). Candidates who have graduated in Romania do not need approval from the Ministry of Education. The application file for the acknowledgment of studies must be submitted to the International Relations Department/Office for Foreign Students at the University of Oradea. Files submitted by individual candidates are not processed by the Ministry of Education. Before the file is processed, all candidates must pay a non-refundable processing file fee of 150 euro, a fee requested by the University of Oradea. The processing file fee will be paid to the University’s bank account before the application is submitted and it covers the expenses for the issuance of the certificate. Once the processing file fee is paid, it cannot be reimbursed.

The documents required for the application are as follows:

Application form for the University of Oradea.

Application form for recognition of studies.

High-school Diploma (original language) – legalized copy.

Transcript of records from High School – copy.

Bachelor degree and transcript of records (for graduate applicants) – legalized copy.

Identification document (photocopy): Passport pages 1,2,3,4 or national ID.

Confirmation of payment of the non-refundable processing file fee of 150 euro.

The documents in other languages than English or French will be translated either into English or into Romanian. All these documents will be sent in a file to the University of Oradea to the following postal mail address. If a candidate is considered eligible and the file is complete, the International Relations Department forwards the documents to the Ministry of National Education to issue the Certificate according to which the candidate can pursue their studies in Romania. In the case of non-recognition of the degree, the candidate cannot carry on with the registration.

2nd stage: Registration at the university; Registration of the candidates for the admission exam or file competition is done on the basis of the acknowledgment of studies by the Ministry of National Education together with the original file that must be submitted in the legal admission periods. The registration file must comprise the documents according to the admission methodology at the University of Oradea.

Candidates who do not speak Romanian can apply for studies in Romanian provided they take a preparatory language course one year before enrollment. At the end of the preparatory year, the candidates will acquire a Romanian language certificate. In case the candidate already has knowledge of the Romanian language, they can take the Romanian language test at the Faculty of Letters and get a language certificate. Romanian language certificates will be accepted only from the Romanian Language Institute or Romanian universities accredited to issue such certificates. The Romanian language test fee is 300 RON (about 60 EUR), subject to alterations. Candidates choosing specializations taught in English will have to pass an interview before the entrance exam.
