Introduction
The purpose of the Bachelor of Mine Surveying Honours is that it prepares students with the competencies required for industry and research in the mine surveying sector. The program also allows students to meet the educational requirements needed for registration in the category of Professional Geometrician (Mine Surveying).

The content, curriculum, and exit level outcomes (ELO) are scrutinized by the industry and accredited by SAGC to ensure conformance and standards are maintained in the new program.
- Demonstrate competence to identify, formulate, analyze and solve complex mine surveying problems creatively and innovatively.
- Demonstrate competence to apply knowledge of mathematics, natural science, and engineering sciences to the conceptualization of engineering models and to solve complex mine surveying problems.
- Demonstrate competence to perform creative, procedural, and non-procedural design and synthesis of components, systems, mine surveying works, products, or processes of a complex nature.
- Demonstrate competence to conduct investigations of complex mine surveying problems including engagement with the research literature and use of research methods including design of experiments, analysis, and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.
- Demonstrate competence to use appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering tools, including information technology, prediction, and modeling, for the solution of complex mine surveying problems, with an understanding of the limitations, restrictions, premises, assumptions, and constraints.
