Introduction

Audiology prepares individuals to diagnose and treat hearing loss and other disorders involving the ear, advise patients on means to use their remaining hearing, and select and fit hearing aids and other devices. Includes instruction in acoustics, anatomy and physiology of hearing, hearing measurement, auditory pathology, middle and inner ear analysis, rehabilitation therapies and assistive technologies, and pediatric and other special applications.

Studying Audiology at the University of Cincinnati will prepare students for an exciting career as an audiologist. At the undergraduate level, students can pursue a bachelor’s degree in Speech Language Hearing Sciences, preparing them with the necessary knowledge and skills needed to advance to graduate level programs. At the graduate level, the Doctor of Audiology (AUD) program involves in-depth study of the disorders of hearing and balance, coupled with practicum experiences in the areas of study. The doctoral-level program provides students with an advanced experience, including a capstone project and nine consecutive semesters of study, which includes summer terms and a one-year full-time final year clinical externship. Students wishing to further their studies may also take interest in the Animal Audiology certificate program, a one-of-a-kind program.

The University of Cincinnati offers graduate program options, including the AUD. The programs strive for excellence in teaching, service, scholarly activity, and leadership while supporting the professional growth of faculty and students, instilling a commitment to lifelong learning and responding to the needs of the region that it serves.
