Applied Graphic Communication Program

Accounting prepares individuals to practice the profession of accounting and to perform related business functions. Includes instruction in accounting principles and theory, financial accounting, managerial accounting, cost accounting, budget control, tax accounting, legal aspects of accounting, auditing, reporting procedures, statement analysis, planning and consulting, business information systems, accounting research methods, professional standards and ethics, and applications to specific for-profit, public, and non-profit organizations.

Acting prepares individuals to communicate dramatic information, ideas, moods, and feelings through the achievement of naturalistic and believable behavior in imaginary circumstances. Includes instruction in voice and acting speech, stage dialects, movement, improvisation, acting styles, theatre history, script interpretation, and actor coaching. Studying Acting at the University of Cincinnati prepares students for careers in theatre, television, film and more. Training within the program ranges from specialized voice and actor training to comprehensive training in movement and stage combat with an SAFD certified Fight Master. The program offers a plethora of opportunities, with students frequently being cast in film and commercial projects while still in school. Students also have the privilege of performing a Senior Showcase for agents in New York and Los Angeles.

Anthropology focuses on the systematic study of human beings, their antecedents and related primates, and their cultural behavior and institutions, in comparative perspective. Includes instruction in biological/physical anthropology, primatology, human paleontology and prehistoric archeology, hominid evolution, anthropological linguistics, ethnography, ethnology, ethnohistory, socio-cultural anthropology, psychological anthropology, research methods, and applications to areas such as medicine, forensic pathology, museum studies, and international affairs.

Architectural Engineering prepares individuals to apply mathematical and scientific principles to the design, development and operational evaluation of materials, systems, and methods used to construct and equip buildings intended for human habitation or other purposes. Studying Architectural Engineering at the University of Cincinnati gives students a unique opportunity to apply engineering principles to the design, planning, and building of modern and sustainable societies. In the BS program, students take courses that cover the theory, design, and technical aspects of critical building designs, such as structural system, the heating, ventilating, and air conditioning systems, as well as hands-on experience in electrical, lighting, plumbing, and fire protection systems through studio and lab experiences. The MEng program culminates on building skills and expertise to enhance the individual’s ability to contribute to the technical workforce rather than academic research.

Athletic Training prepares individuals to work in consultation with, and under the supervision of physicians to prevent and treat sports injuries and associated conditions. Includes instruction in the identification, evaluation, and treatment of athletic injuries and illnesses; first aid and emergency care; therapeutic exercise; anatomy and physiology; exercise physiology; kinesiology and biomechanics; nutrition; sports psychology; personal and community health; knowledge of various sports and their biomechanical and physiological demands; and applicable professional standards and regulations.

Bachelor of Athletic Training

Audiology prepares individuals to diagnose and treat hearing loss and other disorders involving the ear, advise patients on means to use their remaining hearing, and select and fit hearing aids and other devices. Includes instruction in acoustics, anatomy and physiology of hearing, hearing measurement, auditory pathology, middle and inner ear analysis, rehabilitation therapies and assistive technologies, and pediatric and other special applications.

Business Administration generally prepares individuals to plan, organize, direct, and control the functions and processes of a firm or organization. Includes instruction in management theory, human resources management and behavior, accounting and other quantitative methods, purchasing and logistics, organization and production, marketing, and business decision-making.

Bachelor of Business Administration

Business Analytics prepares individuals to apply data science to solve business challenges. Includes instruction in machine learning, optimization methods, computer algorithms, probability and stochastic models, information economics, logistics, strategy, consumer behavior, marketing, and visual analytics. Studying Business Analytics at the University of Cincinnati provides students with functional business area knowledge and analytics skills. In the bachelor's program, students learn how to analyze data and apply descriptive, predictive and prescriptive models to business, organizational, and societal problems. The specialized master's program combines technical training in descriptive, predictive and prescriptive analytics with experiential-education opportunities for students to work with top analytics companies through projects and internships. Students may also decide to extend their studies by pursuing specialized Graduate Certificates in Data Analytics or Data Science; or adding a minor if majoring in a different field.

Chemical Engineering prepares individuals to apply mathematical and scientific principles to the design, development and operational evaluation of systems employing chemical processes, such as chemical reactors, kinetic systems, electrochemical systems, energy conservation processes, heat and mass transfer systems, and separation processes; and the applied analysis of chemical problems such as corrosion, particle abrasion, energy loss, pollution, and fluid mechanics.

Chemistry focuses on the scientific study of the composition and behavior of matter, including its micro- and macro-structure, the processes of chemical change, and the theoretical description and laboratory simulation of these phenomena. Classics focuses on the literary culture of the ancient Graeco-Roman world and the Greek and Latin languages and literatures and their development prior to the fall of the Roman Empire. Includes instruction in mythology, philosophy, religion, politics and other areas where the ancient Greeks and Romans made decisive contributions to world civilization. Studying Classics at the University of Cincinnati places students in one of the most active centers for the study of the Greek and Roman Antiquity in the United States.

Commercial Music Production focuses on the study of the principles of sound manipulation as applied to the creation of music, and the techniques of creating and arranging music. This unique program combines core training in music theory, composition, arranging, and musicianship combined with recording studio techniques, commercial music, and media technologies. Studying Commercial Music Production (CMP) at the University of Cincinnati offers students a comprehensive education in professional commercial music studies. Although this degree includes music production, editing, business and studio technical training, it is important to note that this is music degree, not a music technology, music industry, audio or recording degree. Successful CMP applicants are expected to have significant musical training and study.
