This bachelor’s program is one of our Twin Programs, i.e. the Logistics program taught in English (IBL) is basically identical to the Logistics program mainly taught in German (BL). During the course of studies, students may switch between programs/languages and thus acquire a Twin Certificate at the end.

By intertwining logistic content with technical subject areas, the Bachelor's program Logistics - independent from the language of instruction - has above-average career perspectives and employment security. Our lecturers - previously often in top management positions of companies with lots of opportunities to gather ample experience - are teaching not only current but also future-oriented skills and knowledge. Teaching contents are provided in internationally oriented, mostly English taught classes (BL) or completely English taught classes (IBL) by seminar-like lectures and projects. Among various case studies and to prepare students as well and as practice-oriented as possible for their future careers, there are two comprehensive projects carried out throughout a whole semester. These projects take place in cooperation with companies so that a student group solves an actual and current logistic challenge within the respective company.

Program Structure

Among the basics of economics, natural sciences, and engineering, the seven-semester-program teaches specialist knowledge of logistics and transportation in international corporate networks. It aims at qualifying students for their profession in basic subjects, e.g. mathematics, physics, technical mechanics, operations management, as well as transport logistics (semesters 1 to 3). Additionally, there are modular classes like material flow systems, technical logistics, supply chain management, international logistics, strategic purchasing, logistics services (semesters 4 to 6). Moreover, the program includes two projects in industry and a 20-week internship plus seminar in the sixth semester. During the seventh semester, students complete their studies with classes on core competencies and their individual Bachelor’s thesis.

Program objective

We want to qualify you for the job on an academic basis. This means:

  • You will be able to identify, quantify, and assess organizational and technical logistic problems.
  • You will develop case-related, applicable solutions with the help of scientific methods independently or in a team.
  • You will visualize and communicate the solutions found to co-workers, employees, and superiors.

Occupational fields

As a Bachelor of Engineering, you will find a wide variety of opportunities for starting your career.

The defining technical term today is “Supply Chain Management”: the planning, implementation, and control of supply chains between industry, trade, service providers, and consumers. Internal logistics departments and external logistics service providers (such as forwarding agents) perform transport, warehousing, and handling functions in the material flows. In addition, they plan and control the corresponding information flows.

In such value chains, it will be your task to design technical and organizational logistics systems in and between companies in such a way that inventories are kept to a minimum, the availability of goods is high, and the logistics costs required for this are kept low. A special logistical challenge for modern supply chains is to react flexibly and at short notice to changing customer requirements and to balance fluctuations in demand in a resource-saving manner.

As this is typically a cross-sectional function in companies, you should bring not only technical know-how but also enthusiasm, the willingness to make decisions and assert yourself, as well as social skills.

Career Perspectives

With this degree, you can choose from a wide variety of occupational fields. Here, "Supply Chain Management" is the formative concept: planning, implementing, and controlling supply chains between industry, commerce, service providers, logistics services, and the final users. In material flows, in-house logistics departments and external logistics service providers take over functions in transporting, storing, and turnover of materials. In these value chains, logistics experts are responsible to plan and continuously improve technical and organizational logistics systems in such a way that stocks are as low as possible, their availability, however, high while at the same time costs are to be as low as possible.
