Bachelor of Science in International Economics and Management

The program focuses on management tools typical of companies with a significant international dimension and operating in different and increasingly integrated economic systems.

Content is tailored to give you a strong preparation in the field of international economics and business and a distinctive international perspective.

You will learn to understand and analyze the dynamics of the globalization of cultures and operations and the relationships among countries at the European and extra-European levels.

Through a comparative approach, you will study how cultural differences can influence these dynamics, and how institutions, firms and the financial system as a whole operate in the global context.

You will study in a very international class, where at least 50% of students come from outside of Italy.

During the first year, you will be given a training in several basic subjects in order to begin to understand, how companies and organizations work, as well as the economic system in which they operate.

Economics describes the functioning of economic systems both at an overall level (macroeconomics) and at the level of the individual behavior of firms and consumers (microeconomics). Through math, you’ll be provided with the quantitative tools to understand and apply an array of economic models.

Finally, you will be offered an overview of the fundamentals of civil law (property interests, contract law, tort law, and insurance law) in both a domestic and a broader European context.

Second Year

In the second year, you’ll learn more about the main topics related to international management, such as accounting and financial systems analysis. You will study the logic and techniques of company accounting and learn to read related documents (balance sheets, financial and income statements etc.).

Economic history is fundamental to understand the evolution of political and economic-social systems, as it enables you to better interpret the current environment.

Financial markets and institutions describe the functioning and main components of the financial system: contracts, intermediaries, markets and supervisory boards.

In the second semester, you’ll start studying the topics specific to your program, such as international economics and European Economic Policy.

You’ll also attend a seminar aimed at improving your leadership and managerial skills.

Third Year

In the last year, you will study organizations working at a global level, their main business functions (marketing, organization, technologies, finance etc.) and strategic business management in an international context.

You’ll also be able to further personalize your study plan:

• Choosing a research topic you’re interested in, that you can deepen and develop in your final report

Career Opportunities

Most International Economics and Management graduates continue their education at the graduate level; graduates may also have direct access to the labor market.

Graduates from a study path in Management and Economics can work at a wide variety of companies and organizations. Career opportunities include junior positions in various business functions (planning and control, accounting and finance, marketing and sales, purchasing, organization, etc.) in companies/institutions where global and international areas are of major significance.

Admission

Every year, Bocconi University selects the best candidates and sets a number of students who can be admitted to its programs in order to guarantee the best welcoming conditions and success in the academic path and to facilitate the entrance of our Graduates in the professional world.

Usually, a total of 2700 places are available for Bachelor of Science and Integrated Master of Arts in Law programs' first-year students. Classes are made up of approximately 100 students for BSc programs taught in English and approximately 120 students for BSc programs taught in Italian. The Integrated Master of Arts in Law classes (taught in Italian only) are made up of around 140 students.
