Bachelor in
Bachelor of Chemical Engineering Technology (Environment) with Honours Universiti Kuala Lumpur- UniKL

Introduction
Our planet is facing threats from various quarters, including direct pollution of the environment, the air we breathe, the water we drink, energy resources, and land cultivation. The program at UniKL is the application of science and chemical engineering principles to improve the environment (air, water, and/or land resources), and provide healthy water, air, and land for human habitation and for other organisms, and remediate polluted sites. The program also involves water and air pollution control, recycling, waste disposal, and public health issues. Graduates from this program conduct hazardous-waste management studies to evaluate the significance of such hazards, advise on treatment and containment, and develop regulations to prevent mishaps.
The outstanding curriculum at UniKL provides students with a comprehensive academic foundation that combines coursework with hands-on experience in the basic sciences and the fundamentals of chemical engineering, as well as opportunities to study in specialized areas such as environmental engineering. Exceptional educational and industrial training facilities on campus include bioreactor, Freeze Dyer, Tangential Flow Filtration, Gel Electrophoresus Unit & Imaging System, and Rotary Ivaporator.

Program Outcome
Majors in chemical engineering will be able to:
- Knowledge: Apply knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering technology fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to define and applied engineering procedures, processes, systems, or methodologies in chemical and environmental engineering technology.
- Problem analysis: Identify, formulate, research literature, and analyze broadly-defined chemical and environment engineering technology problems reaching substantiated conclusions using analytical tools appropriate to their discipline or area of specialization.
- Design/development of solutions: Design solutions for broadly-defined chemical and environment engineering technology problems and contribute to the design of systems, components, or processes to meet specified needs with appropriate consideration for public health and safety, cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.
- Investigation: Conduct investigations of broadly-defined problems; locate, search and select relevant data from codes, databases, and literature, and design and conduct experiments to provide valid conclusions.
- Modern Tool Usage: Select and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools, including prediction and modeling, to broadly-defined engineering activities, with an understanding of the limitations.
- The Engineer and Society: Demonstrate understanding of the societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to chemical and environment engineering technology practice.
- Environment and Sustainability: Understand the impact of chemical and environment engineering technology solutions in societal and environmental contexts and demonstrate knowledge of and need for sustainable development.
- Ethics: Understand and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of chemical and environment engineering technology practice.
- Individual and Team Work: Function effectively as an individual, and as a member or leader in diverse technical teams.
- Communications: Communicate effectively on broadly-defined engineering activities with the engineering community and with society at large, by being able to comprehend and write effective reports and design documentation, make effective presentations, and give and receive clear instructions.
- Project Management and Finance: Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of engineering management principles, business practices, and technopreneurs competencies, as well as identify business opportunities, and apply these to one’s own work, as a member and leader in a team and manage projects in multidisciplinary environments.
- Life-Long Learning: Recognize the need for, and have the ability to engage in independent and life-long learning in specialist technologies.
Career Opportunities
Job opportunity for graduates in this field is available in any government and private sectors. In government sectors, graduates can work as enforcement officers with the Department of Environment (DOE) or others. These are also job opportunities offered by private sectors such as Environmental Technologies Officers, Environmental Safety and Health Engineers, Safety Officers, Environmental Engineers, and a consultant in consultancy firms.
Almost all the multi-national companies (MNS), and small and medium companies (SMI) are very concerned about the environment, therefore the need for expertise is in demand. This course will offer a lot of job opportunities.
