Introduction

The Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with specialization in Business Analytics (BSBA-BA) Program is a four-year course of the University of Asia and the Pacific that prepares students to work in a corporate setting, specifically companies which handle big data or business analytics. In addition, BSBA-BA still has a strong emphasis on liberal arts, governance, corporate social responsibility and global outlook, offering a broad perspective and appreciation of issues and trends in the business environment.

Given the big demand for Business Analytics, BSBA-BA provides students with a strong exposure to the different ways of storing data and to use different methods on how to handle it. This specialization prepares its students to solve business problems from data as well.

CURRICULUM

Under the BSBA-BA Program, students undergo an intense curriculum that prepared them to be future leaders, managers or administrators ready to face the challenges of handling big data. It exposes the students with the realities of the business environment and at the same time provides students with the rigors of classroom education. Alongside, the core subjects of BSBA, having a specialization in Business Analytics will provide students an opportunity to learn skills and competencies necessary for collecting, using, managing and manipulating data for decision making. The curriculum also allows students to jumpstart their career in Business Analytics with an opportunity of meeting and being taught by experts from companies handling big data and having the experience of working for multinational companies known in practicing business analytics.

  • BSBA Core Subjects (same as the core subjects under the BSBA-Management Platform)
  • 15 Units Business Analytics Subjects
    • Fundamentals of Business Analytics (3 units)
    • Fundamentals of Data Warehousing (3 units)
    • Fundamentals of Descriptive Analytics (3 units)
    • Fundamentals of Predictive Analytics (3 units)
    • Fundamentals of Prescriptive Analytics (3 units)
  • 6 Units Internship in Companies practicing Business Analytics

GRADUATES

The graduates of BSBA-BA are enabled to collect, use, manage, manipulate data to get insights for informed decision making. Graduates are trained to spot business questions and business dilemma and come up with a model, look into necessary data and solve problems using technology.

INTERNSHIP

Given that the industry clamored for Business Analytics and the need for this program was born through the request of practitioners, students will be provided with a meaningful internship experience with companies focusing on Business Analytics. This will also provide students with a seamless absorption to companies since they will be working with real business analytics projects.

MENTORING PROGRAM

Our institutionalized one on one mentoring is focused on developing the whole person, his or her competence, and values, career, and vocation. In the end, the graduates of the course will have more opportunities for managerial positions in the industry.

Admission Requirements for Filipinos

  • Accomplished application form.
  • Secondary school record (enclosed in a sealed envelope; have the flap signed by the School Registrar.)
  • Recommendation form (enclosed in a sealed envelope; have the flap signed by the Principal or Guidance Counselor.)
  • Personal essay (typewritten on short bond paper) that conveys interests (visual/theater arts, sports, music, gourmet cooking, etc.); accomplishments; family, educational, entrepreneurial, and social experiences; future goals; strengths, weaknesses and potentials that positively contribute to the development of the University (maximum of 250 words).
  • Parents’ information sheet — for Entrepreneurial Management Program applicants only.
  • Three 2″ x 2″ identical pictures (one for the application form and one for the exam permit)
  • Accomplished scholarship / financial aid application and recommendation form for those applying for grants.
  • Photocopy of NSO-authenticated Birth Certificate Note: All credentials, including the application form submitted to the University Admissions Office become the property of the school. They will not be returned to the applicant.

Admission Requirements for Foreign Applicants

  • Accomplished application form.
  • Photocopy of birth certificate
  • Photocopy of passport
  • Photocopy of Alien Certificate of Registration (ACR)
  • Three 2″ x 2″ identical pictures (one for the application form and one for the exam permit)
  • Secondary school record form or an official transcript of records
  • Accomplished recommendation form from the applicant’s guidance counselor
  • Personal essay (printed on short bond paper) that conveys interests (visual/theater arts, sports, music, gourmet cooking, etc.); accomplishments; family, educational, entrepreneurial, and social experiences; future goals; strengths, weaknesses and potentials that positively contribute to the development of the University (maximum of 250 words).
  • Certificate of evidence of SAT1 results (must be submitted by December 1) o Note: An applicant who is a foreigner or resides outside the Philippines may opt to substitute the entrance examination with the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT1) results. The applicant must obtain a minimum combined score of 1140 on the SAT1.
  • Certificate of evidence of TOEFL results (must be submitted by December 1) o Note: If the foreign applicant’s native language or medium of instruction in secondary school is not English, he or she should take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). The applicant must obtain a minimum score of 500 for the paper-based test or 62 for the Internet-based test.

Note: Please make sure to complete all the requirements in order to facilitate the processing of your application. The applicant should apply for a Student Visa at the Philippine Embassy or consulate only after receiving the official letter of acceptance from the University. Inquiries may be made at the Embassy regarding a Student Visa. All credentials, including the application form submitted to the University Admissions Office, become the property of the school. They will not be returned to the applicant.
