Built upon a core combination of Bible, theology, and church history courses, you can tailor your program to match your unique calling when you choose a professional minor in one of the following areas: pastoral ministry, youth ministry, children’s ministry, intercultural studies, worship ministry or church and community. Through your program, you will have the foundation you need to become a servant leader for various age groups in different ministry settings. You will be equipped with knowledge of the essential components of the field while also being challenged to minister in innovative, creative, and transformative ways.
The Religion major with minors in pastoral ministry, youth ministry, and children’s ministry meets the educational requirements for ordination in the Church of the Nazarene.

Curriculum
As a professional major, the Religion Major will be supplemented by one of six required professional minors: Pastoral Ministry, Children’s Ministry, Youth Ministry, Intercultural Studies, Compassionate Ministry, or Worship Ministry.
General Education — 40 hours
Variations for General Education for Religion and Religious Studies Majors
PHL 2010 and REL 3000 will be waived in lieu of two upper-division philosophy courses and THE 4140 and THE 4150 which are part of the core curriculum.
Greek or Hebrew is required for Intercultural Literacy.
Religion/Religious Studies majors are required to take either (1) two semesters of Hebrew (I and II) OR (2) two semesters of Greek (I and II) OR one semester of Hebrew and one semester of Greek (Hebrew I and Greek I).
Two courses in church history meet the Institutional Requirement.
For Behavioral Choice: PSY 2010 is required for professional minors in Pastoral, Youth, Worship Ministry, and Children’s Ministry; SOC 2010 is for professional minors in Compassionate Ministry.
Religion and Religious Studies majors will take REL 4100 designated for Religion and Religious Studies majors only instead of.
