Introduction
Through the Media, Culture, and the Arts (MCA) degree at The King’s College in New York City, students explore the history of artistic and cultural movements, the driving ideologies of civilizations, and cultural interpretation principles. Our courses rest upon the conviction that culture-making springs from what society loves and worships. We believe that cultural production—books, technology, music, plays, institutions, media, the visual arts, and more—shapes our shared imagination and directs our future. At King’s, we are called to cultivate, create, and restore culture in every city.
The MCA major combines media studies with humanities courses on cultural history and interpretation. Students hone their crafts through electives in media, film, theater, visual arts, music, literature, journalism, criticism, creative writing, art history, musical theater, and museum studies.
