Introduction

At the McCoy College of Business, education expands beyond the traditional classroom. By embracing classroom experience, co-curricular activities, and professional development, McCoy College students leave Texas State University with transferrable skills, real-world work experience, and all the tools they need to enter the competitive workforce.

Academic Majors

  • Accounting
  • Computer Information Systems
  • Economics
  • Finance
  • Management
  • Marketing

Internships

As part of the McCoy Experience, McCoy College students are encouraged to seek internship opportunities to grow in their professional development. Internships are recommended for students who wish to gain real-world experience where they can apply their classroom knowledge. Additionally, an internship may be completed for course credit in all majors except undergraduate accounting.

Although McCoy College faculty internship coordinators are active in building relationships with area businesses for internships, it is the obligation of the student to locate an internship. Assistance is available from Career Services for students who wish to locate an internship. Since Texas State is located between two major metropolitan areas, many internship opportunities exist in a variety of fields.

Study Abroad

Education abroad enables students to diversify their educational experience and become more marketable in a global economy. For business students, the best opportunities exist during the sophomore and junior years while completing the general education core, business core, or any free electives.

For more information on all opportunities and the process of gaining approval to study abroad, please consult with the Education Abroad Office or attend an information session.

It is imperative that business students consult with their advisors early on in their degree program at Texas State if they are interested in education abroad.
