Introduction

The 1st year courses taught in English, include preparatory courses in mathematics, physics, and chemistry, foundational courses in physics, chemistry, mathematics and engineering, as well as intensive Hebrew language course. After the 1st year, students transition to studying in Hebrew, at one of the following engineering and science programs: Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Biotechnology and Food Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, double major in Chemistry and Biology, or double major in Chemistry and Materials Science and Engineering.

Academic Program

August-October

  • Begin your adventure with arrival in Israel and settling into our comfortable student dormitories.

  • Dive into an immersive Hebrew course tailored to your level, ensuring a smooth transition.

  • Engage in a preparatory course in mathematics.

  • Join our vibrant social program, fostering camaraderie while exploring Technion, Haifa, and the beauty of Israel.

First semester (October- February)

  • Continuing studying Hebrew while delving into engineering courses taught in English.

  • Study foundational courses in Calculus, Algebra, and Engineering.

  • Students who studied Chemistry and Physics in high school will study foundational courses in these subjects in the first semester. Students who did not study Physics or Chemistry in high school are required to undertake preparatory courses and pass the classification exam in these subjects during the first semester. Passing the classification exam is a pre-requisite to studying the foundational courses in Physics and Chemistry in the 2nd semester.

Second semester (March – June)

  • Continue studying Hebrew as needed.

  • Decide which field you would like to focus on for your studies at Technion from the following tracks: Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Biotechnology and Food Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, double major in Chemistry and Biology, or double major in Chemistry and Materials Science and Engineering

  • Continue to study foundational courses as well as a number of courses from your chosen track.

  • Courses will be offered in English in all the tracks in the second semester, with the option of transferring to Hebrew courses depending on your Hebrew level.

Conditions to continue studies in the 2nd year:

From the 2nd year on courses will be offered in Hebrew. In order to integrate into regular courses in Hebrew, students are required to attain Hebrew proficiency at the required level (level “Daled”) by the end of the 1st year. In addition, students must complete Hebrew Course 3 by the end of the 2nd year in order to attain an exemption from Hebrew studies.

In addition, transition to the 2nd year is conditional on the completion of 27 academic credit points in the first year, an average grade of 65% and a cumulative success rate of at least 66% in the courses studied.

Degree awarded

Students in the program will graduate with a BSc in Engineering or Science in the field they choose to study at the Technion (BSc in Engineering or Science, BSc in Chemistry etc).

Housing

Students are housed in private rooms in Technion’s new dormitory complex consisting of five-person furnished apartment units, shared with international peers. Living on campus, students will enjoy a vibrant and welcoming student community, which will help them easily integrate into life at Technion.

* Opening of the program is contingent on the number of registered students.

** The program is subject to changes, at the discretion of TI.
