Introduction
Study business administration - part-time alongside your job
The bachelor's degree in business administration gives you full flexibility. You study part-time alongside your job or other activity and can specialize by choosing two out of a total of eight specialization subjects. In addition to the core business subjects, you will also acquire important soft skills, such as working methods, communication, language skills and intercultural skills. As part of the "international Calwer profile" you benefit from both the foreign language offer and the international contacts of the university.
Individual specialization
After a well-founded basic training in business administration, you choose - focused on your individual strengths and interests - two out of currently eight possible electives. This opens up up-to-date specialization options with a focus on current developments on the labor market.
Controlling: You will acquire in-depth theoretical and practical know-how in the areas of operational and strategic controlling as well as cost management. You will get to know various planning processes and specifically address the areas of investment controlling and company valuation.
Finance: You will deepen your basic business knowledge in the area of financial planning, forms of corporate financing and risk management. Know-how and practical exercises in the field of company valuation, rating procedures and financial communication make you fit for the financial community.
International management: Due to globalization, international aspects play an increasing role. Therefore, the organization of international projects is also discussed. Here you will be made fit using real case studies from practice. The special features and the intercultural challenges in international management are deepened in an English-language event and illustrated in case studies.
Marketing: You will deepen the basic knowledge of marketing and communication management acquired in the basic course, particularly in the areas of advertising and consumption as well as media planning and control. You will analyze and evaluate current marketing developments and trends and deal with the conditions for success in event marketing and management on the basis of real practical cases.
Personnel management: Building on organizational psychological knowledge, you will acquire know-how and practical skills in the management of people and teams. Corporate development and change management require high leadership skills, which you develop in this specialization.
Auditing: Experienced experts will teach you the principles of internal and external auditing. The basics of the annual audit, various forms of special audits and the international audit are discussed in depth theoretically and in case studies.
Taxes: Building on the basic tax knowledge imparted in the basic course, you will acquire detailed knowledge of the taxation of partnerships and corporations as well as tax planning theory. In practical case studies, you expand your expert knowledge and your tax skills.
Corporate communication: corporate identity, corporate behavior, corporate design, corporate language: You will deal with the various forms of corporate communication in a diverse media world, their economic and legal determinants as well as real case studies of successful and unsuccessful corporate communication.
Study schedule: 2 evenings a week and lectures every 14 days on Saturdays. One free week for exam preparation, 2 exam weeks and 2 weeks of lecture-free time per trimester
Languages: German, English (mandatory), Spanish (optional)
Course content: Business knowledge at an academic level, combined with soft skills and intercultural skills
Duration: 72 months (180 ECTS)
Fees: 300 euros per month for 72 months, plus 300 euros enrollment fee (one-off)
Prospects: The degree qualifies you to take on higher specialist and management tasks in all operational functions in companies, associations, specialist and research institutes and in consulting as well as for business start-ups and self-employment. Further scientific profiling is possible by completing a master's degree
Advantages: Part-time studies open the way to a university degree without giving up what you have achieved professionally. It provides proof of the part-time students' willingness and ability to perform and is therefore a first-class calling card
admission requirements
The following requirements apply to admission to the part-time bachelor’s degree in Business Administration:
- the general higher education entrance qualification, the subject-related higher education entrance qualification, the advanced technical college entrance qualification or an access qualification recognized as equivalent by law or by the responsible state agency
- participation in an application and counseling interview
- in the case of later entry into a higher trimester, proof of equivalence of the knowledge acquired up to that point at another university
