Introduction
Economics does not simply involve studying people, goods, and money. It is a discipline that enables one to contribute to the improvement of our world where people can live happily. With effort and perseverance in studying Economics, one will gain the ability of “cool heads, but warm hearts.” In order to develop students who have “cool heads,” meaning the ability to think and analyze rationally, and “warm hearts,” the desire to pursue the happiness of others, the Department of Economics at Soka University has developed the following goals toward the academic curriculum:
- To foster students with logical thinking and problem solving skills through systematic economic education.
- To foster students with communication skills for a global society by learning English through the study of economics.
- To foster students with skills to view the world with all encompassing perspective, who can participate in world affairs through humanistic economics.
