Introduction

Courses leader: Fabio Verdelli
Fabio Verdelli is an Italian designer and author, founder and director of Fabio Verdelli | Design Studio, a renowned design firm established in Milan in 2009. In 2020, he expanded the company by opening a branch in China, located in Guangzhou (Canton). Fabio Verdelli holds a degree in Industrial Design from Politecnico di Milano. He began his design career at Design Continuum and the IED Design Center. He has collaborated with numerous leading global brands such as Bosch, Fiat, Hyundai, IBM, Hewlett-Packard, Google, Facebook, Coca-Cola, Meta, Ray-Ban, Oakley and Samsung. His creative approach is strictly human-centered, emphasizing technological and cultural innovation. He is considered one of the founders and most important representatives of GENTLE-TECH in Europe and abroad. He has been awarded several prestigious international design awards, including the IF and Red Dot awards. GENTLE-TECH in Europa e all’estero. Product Design Graduates will possess the skills to successfully join design world, apply for companies of different sectors or work as freelancers. The course is for applicants with a secondary school leaving diploma. Ideal students in this course aspire to transform their creative characteristics into the abilities to think, conceive, execute, and communicate projects, products, and services. The course provides them with the research tools, methodologies, and processes they will need to be able to govern the complexity of designing. As design is interdisciplinary by nature, the course will introduce students to the tools they need to interact with various experts in managing the process, from the product’s conception to its market commercialization.

Curriculum
The first year curriculum is designed to enable students to learn the tools of basic design, perception and the human senses, familiarity with materials, history of design, design theory and representation, designing 1. The second year features a strong component of design labs, workshops, interdisciplinary labs, and site visits to firms. The third year is devoted to analyzing future trends and scenarios, new opportunities for design, with the city as a theatre for design. The last semester focuses on developing a design thesis in partnership with firms.
