Freshmen Students
To apply as a freshman student, please submit the following documents:

Conditional Admissions
Conditional admission is for undergraduate students who do not have proof of English proficiency or do not meet our minimum proof of English proficiency requirements, but otherwise meet all other admission criteria. Students in this category are admitted to a Radford University academic program with the condition (requirement) of completing our Intensive English Program (IEP) before taking any academic courses. Once the IEP program is completed, students will be allowed to begin their academic-related courses. No additional application is required.
Note: If you are applying for conditional admission, you must complete at least one level (semester) of our Intensive English Program. You will not be able to test out of this program upon arrival.

This admission category is specifically for those students interested in only attending the Intensive English Program (IEP). This category does not allow automatic admission into an academic program at Radford University.

Graduate Students
The Application Process
A prospective student desiring to enter a Radford University graduate program should apply using the online application available on the Graduate Admissions website by selecting the Apply Now option. All materials must be submitted in English.
Certain programs use a Centralized Application Service (CAS) for submission of application materials. Programs and associated CASs are listed below.
- Athletic Training (MSAT) – ATCAS
- Communication Sciences and Disorders (MA, MS) – CSDCAS
- Occupational Therapy (MOT) – OTCAS
- Physical Therapy (DPT) – PTCAS
- Physician Assistant (MS) – CASPA
Required Educational Documents
Program-specific application requirements must be submitted to supplement all graduate applications. All documents in a language other than English must be accompanied by certified English translations. Translations alone will not be accepted.
- Official transcripts or statement of marks - Applicants must submit an official record for each college or university attended to the Office of Graduate Admissions. All records from non-U.S. institutions must be certified and translated into English by an evaluation service. International applicants are required to use one of the following credential evaluation services: World Education Services (WES), Foreign Credential Service of America (FCSA), International Educational Equivalency Evaluation Services Inc. (IEEES), or Transcript Research. Applicants are required to select the course-by-course report option from the preferred credential evaluation service. General reports are not sufficient.
- For students enrolled at a U.S. college, the Transfer Eligibility Form must be completed.
- If you have been out of school for any period other than school breaks, please send a letter explaining whether you have been working, attending school, etc., along with the application for admission.
- Confidential Statement of Financial Support (see required immigration documents).
- TOEFL/IELTS - (see English Proficiency).
- All program-specific application requirements – review your program's application requirements.
Required Immigration Documents
In addition to the Supplemental International Student Application [PDF], to have an I-20 prepared, the following documents must be submitted to complete the application process. The I-20 will not be prepared before the application is complete, reviewed by the respective program, and the Office of Graduate Admission has taken favorable action on the application.
- Official bank statement - An original and certified statement dated no more than 12 months before the term of entry which states the specific amount of money (in U.S. dollars) immediately available for your first academic year of graduate study must be submitted. The official funds estimate required for I-20 processing for the 2016-2017 academic year is $35,370. This amount includes tuition, fees, and living expenses. Please note that if you will be participating in either the Doctor of Nursing Practice (D.N.P.), Master of Occupational Therapy (M.O.T.), or the Doctor of Physical Therapy (D.P.T.) program, the estimates are different. The official funds estimate required for I-20 processing for the 2016-2017 academic year is $37,574 - $45,954 for D.N.P., $53,459 for M.O.T., and $63,782 for D.P.T. Please note that these amounts are subject to change.
- Letter of Support or Confidential Statement of Financial Support - An official letter of support from your financial sponsor stating the specific amount the sponsor will provide dated no more than 12 months before the term of entry.
- If you are transferring from an institution within the U.S., you must have a Transfer Eligibility Form completed by the appropriate Immigration Official or Foreign Student Advisor at the institution you are attending or attended. This form is included with the application.
English Proficiency
International applicants whose native language is not English or who have not earned a bachelor's degree or higher from an institution at which English is the primary language of instruction must demonstrate English proficiency before admission to the University. Graduate international applicants must submit official TOEFL or IELTS scores if English proficiency is required. Applications may not be reviewed by the departments until the English proficiency requirement is met.
A TOEFL minimum score of 550 on the paper-based test or, 79-80 on the Internet-based test is required for admission. A minimum score of 6.5 is required for the IELTS. The minimum required scores for the TOEFL and IELTS are strictly upheld. Applicants who do not achieve a minimum score on either of these English proficiency exams will not be considered for admission. Official scores on the TOEFL or IELTS cannot be more than two years old from the term to which the applicant is applying.
