Courses you will take
Doing business
This course provides you with information on basic aspects of international business from both a theoretical and practical perspective. The course discusses current trends as well as historical developments, while the emphasis is put on using case studies.
International trade
The course provides you with information on the current international trade as a system creating a business environment, on a basis of theoretical background and knowledge of international trade flows, with specific applications in managerial practice.
Marketing and business policy
The goal of this course is to educate you to understand a corporation as a complex system that performs multiple functions. Each company needs marketing. That is why all basic categories of modern marketing will the: marketing research, marketing mix, consumer behavior, and marketing plan. The integral part will be clarifying of raw material policy in industrial processes, industrial manufacturing, production, and economic efficiency, including environmental policy.
Principles of management
The aim of the course is to introduce you to the management theories by incorporating the perspectives of real-life managers. Management of every kind of entity will be covered – enterprises or non-profit associations, small and medium-sized businesses, or management of multinational corporations.
World economy
The course aims at the current stage and basic trends within the development of the world economy with a special emphasis on the position of the European Union. It makes you familiar with the principal actors of the global economic system as well as with their mutual interconnections. Based upon understanding the European integration process, the course enables you to understand the potential and limits of the Czech Republic’s more effective integration into the global economy.
International business operations
The objective of this course is to acquaint you with contemporary practices of cross-border business operations within the EU market and with the specifics of doing international business with other countries outside the EU. The course is focused on providing an overview of the procedures used to ensure operations, decision-making processes, and on the legal framework of international business transactions. These issues are illustrated by case studies based on real business practices.
What is the program schedule?
Each semester consists of 13 weeks and an examination period of 6 weeks. The Winter semester begins by mid-September and the summer semester begins by mid-February.
The first semester of study is preceded by a matriculation period and an Orientation Week within which students receive all the necessary information about the system of study and effective support for starting their studies at the Prague University of Economics and Business as well as their lives in the Czech Republic.
Double degree options
IBB students can benefit from two signed double degree agreements, namely with:
- University of Vaasa (Finland)
- OTH Regensburg (Germany)
In both cases, the option concerns students in the 3rd year of study.
And how does it work?
- You pay the tuition fee only at VŠE. Additionally, you receive the scholarship for both semesters from the Erasmus+ program.
- You spend two semesters at our partner institution in Finland or Germany and study selected courses.
- When you finish, you get not just one, but two bachelor's degrees.
Students in the 3rd year can spend one year at the partner institution. It is highly recommended that they take all of the mandatory courses within the first two years and keep a sufficient amount of credits for elective courses for the last year.

Aims
The aim of the program Bachelor of International Business is to educate economists and equip them with a standard framework of knowledge in economics, business administration, law, statistics, and mathematics, with advanced international languages skills, and with a specialization in international business within the context of a changing global environment.

Professional know-how
A graduate:
- Grasps the principles of the world economy, international trade, finance, and investment, and behavior of economic actors (consumers, entrepreneurs, governments), understands the causes of market failure and its possible solutions;
- Knows mathematical tools, basic probability theory and descriptive statistics, and information technologies;
- Understands issues of business and labor law;
- Understands the nature of international business operations, and specifics of negotiations with international partners, while respecting social and cultural differences;
- Knows basic methods and techniques of retailing, including flow-of-goods management, and methods of territorial analysis.
Professional skills
A graduate is able:
- To make independent managerial decisions while using elementary marketing tools and tools of financial management of a company in a changing international environment;
- To handle complex international trade operations, including the necessary legal and financial security transactions.

The aim of the Bachelor of International Business (IBB) program is to provide students with appropriate professional qualifications in international business and related economic, social, and political areas, and to prepare them for lifelong learning.
Students in the program will acquire knowledge and develop competencies in the areas of international business, economics, entrepreneurship, logistics and supply chain management, world economics, mathematics, and intercultural skills. Graduates of the program are equipped with superior language skills and will succeed in the changing multicultural environment of international business. The core values of the program respect for the ethical dimension of international business and compliance with the principles of diversity, equality, and inclusion.
Graduates of the program will find employment mainly in:
- multinational companie,
- national companies operating in foreign markets,
- international or governmental institutions,
as specialist positions, or in junior and middle management positions and at the same time, graduates are prepared to succeed with their own business plans and objectives or to continue with their education at the master’s level.
Access to further studies
The Bachelor’s Diploma and the Diploma Supplement are recognized worldwide in terms of meeting the requirements for entrance into master’s degree programs.
The Prague University of Economics and Business offers IBB graduates the possibility to continue their studies at the master’s level in programs taught in English, for example in the International Business master’s program.
