Introduction
The new trends in Information and Communications Technologies (ICT) require more and more multidisciplinary preparation that spans the fields of Communications, Electronics, and Computer Science. Three areas that “speak” English in a native way.
Are you ready for this challenge?
Electronic and Communications Engineering is what you are looking for: all courses are given in English, the official language of ICT. The first year of study gives the foundations of mathematics, physics, computer science, computer networks, and electronics. The second year of studies offers more in-depth knowledge of math and physics, and the fundamentals of electronic systems. The third-year classes focus more specifically on ICT topics: algorithms and programming, digital transmission and computer networks, and advanced electronic systems.

Program Outcome
What Will You Learn?
The program lasts 3 years and provides a multidisciplinary education in the ITC field and allows students to acquire knowledge and skills both in the Electronics and Telecommunications area.
In Year 1 you will study the core subjects (math, chemistry, physics, and computer science) to better deal with more specific subjects in the following years.
During Year 2 you will gain preparatory knowledge on electronics and electromagnetic fields, systems and algorithms, electronics and signal processing systems and transmission as well as in electronics and controls.
In Year 3 you will complete your education with further knowledge and skills in electronics and electromagnetics; telecommunications engineering (signal processing, data transmission, networks, and advanced electronic systems), and programming (algorithms and their complexity).
At the end of the pro, gram you will have to take a final exam.
Career Opportunities
The main career opportunities can be classified into two categories:
- Continue your studies with a Master’s degree program: up to the present almost 100% of your colleagues have chosen to continue this pathway
- Alternatively, you can start working as an Electronic and Telecommunication Engineer by choosing one of the following career fields:
- Telecommunication system manager, working in management teams, maintaining and developing telecommunication networks at various levels, both national and international;
- Digital signal processing system designer, expert on digital signal processing, a technique highly demanded by companies in different areas: from bioengineering, industrial automation, automotive, and many others;
- Junior ICT designer, who collaborates in design, production, and assistance in the ITC field as a freelancer as well as a company employee;
- Junior assistant and maintenance engineer, providing maintenance and assistance to customers using electronic instruments and software.
Most opportunities are in the fields of design, engineering, production, operation, and maintenance of electronic systems in general and telecommunications systems, signal processing, and telecommunications networks in particular, including promotion, sales, and technical assistance.

How will you learn it?
The degree program is English-taught, also partially available in Italian, and accessible via live streaming or on demand.
During Year 2 and Year 3 you can choose to attend part of the courses abroad, thanks to mobility programs offered by foreign Universities. The current mobility agreements are with:
- Haute Ecole Francisco Ferrer, Brussels, Belgium;
- Universities of Southeastern Conference (SEC) in the USA: University of Alabama, University of Arkansas, Mississippi State University, Auburn University, and University of Georgia (SEC-U program);
- Tongji University, Tongji, China. ( PoliTong program);
- Poznan University of Technology, Poznan, Poland (only for ECE students in the Path for Young Talents program).
You will attend lectures, classroom exercises, and both computer and electronic labs that are also remotely accessible through virtual infrastructures.
Other activities include guided exercises and sample projects to be carried out individually or in small working groups where you can learn how to manage teamwork, compare ideas, and write technical reports.
The final project is a laboratory in telecommunication. During Year 3 you can also choose to do an internship in a company.
You may be selected to participate in a workshop called "Algorithms for Music Processing" addressed to the most deserving students. The workshop is a two-year project that integrates the knowledge acquired in the subjects of Circuit Theory and Applications, Electronic Circuits, Applied Electronics, Signals and Systems, and Digital Transmission. In the end, you will have to develop and present a multidisciplinary project on your own.
