Introduction

The Communication major prepares you for corporate communication, print and broadcast journalism, social media management, advertising, public relations, and media production.

If you enjoy working with people, presenting creative ideas across multiple platforms, and welcome the challenge of working with new technology, consider majoring in Communication.

You’ll develop effective written and oral communication skills and have frequent opportunity to practice them. Students can develop videography, video editing, and visual composition skills in state-of-the-art digital editing suites and get hands-on experience in television and radio broadcasting and production in our on-campus studios. Writing, editing, photography, production, and talent positions are available on the staffs of The Behrend Beacon newspaper, BVZ Radio, and PSB-TV (and their respective online and social media presences), or you can pursue an internship at a local corporation, media outlet, advertising agency, or nonprofit organization.
