Introduction

Why pursue a journalism and media communication degree at North Central College?

Journalism and media communication prepares students to become modern media practitioners, practiced in the art of storytelling across a variety of platforms and technologies. Students are able to put together a unique program suited to their future goals with an emphasis on journalism, video/TV, or radio.

You can also:

  • Apply for staff positions at the award-winning Chronicle news magazine and NCC Linked news website. Students can contribute to and get published in Chronicle/ncclinked.com as early as their freshman year.
  • Work for North Central’s student-run radio station, WONC, named the best college radio station in the country in 2015. Students can be on the air as soon as their first week on campus.
  • Get involved with the NCC’s Video Practicum, putting your video production skills to work producing news stories and other short videos.
  • Intern at area television and radio stations.
  • Study abroad with programs that enhance or complement the journalism and media communication curriculum.
