1891 – The college is established with the intention "to teach practical agriculture and mechanic arts and such branches of learning as relate there to, not excluding academic and classical instruction" to African American citizens of North Carolina.

1892 - John Oliver Crosby is elected the first president of the College by the Board of Trustees.

1896 – Dr. James B. Dudley is selected as the second president. He serves until 1925.

1899 – The college confers its first degrees.

1925 – Dr. Ferdinand D. Bluford is selected as the third president. He serves until 1955, becoming the longest serving leader in the history of A&T until this day

Bachelor of Science (B.S.) - Agricultural Education (Secondary Education) - The curriculum in secondary education is for students seeking careers teaching agriscience in middle and high schools. Graduates are eligible to apply for the agricultural education teaching license in North Carolina. Students majoring in this concentration will also have to be admitted to the College of Education’s Teacher Education Program at N.C. A&T, and must earn a minimum grade point average of 2.8, in addition to other program requirements. Please ask your advisor for more details and information about these requirements.

Here at NC A&T, we are educating the next generation of land and food system leaders. We do this by using 21st-century approaches including technology-driven classroom instruction, experiential learning on our urban food platform and student farm, and service learning opportunities on-campus and around our community.

While pursuing the B.S. in Animal Science degree, students study domestic livestock, including sheep, cattle, goats, swine, horses and poultry. The curriculum includes a strong emphasis on biological and physical sciences, as well as animal health, nutrition, reproduction and management.

The Bachelor of Science in Graphic Design Technology (CGT) offers two concentrations: Technical Design (TEDS) and User Experience (UEXP). The TEDS concentration focuses on architectural, mechanical, product, and packaging designs. Sstudents in TEDS will be able to help companies and organizations visualize data, generate engineering drawings or graphics, design digital prototypes and quality products, and create efficient architectural structures. Whereas, the UEXP concentration emphasizes true user experience applied to website development, video game creation, 2D and 3D animations, multimedia production, virtual reality (VR), publishing design, logo design, typography, and to create content for marketing or communication. The department labs are equipped with PC and Mac computers, application software, SLR digital cameras, wide format printers, and a package plotter.

laboratory animal science is a fascinating, relatively new field of applied science which deals with the biology of animal models used in biomedical research, and their relationships to man and other animal species in regard to health and disease prevention. It offers career opportunities in the pharmaceutical industry, in government regulatory agencies, and in research and development organizations. The B.S. in Laboratory Animal Science is the degree of choice for students who are interested in pre-vet, pre-med, and preparation for advanced studies in human and animal health-related areas.
