Introduction

This department conducts education and research in the area where marine and fisheries engineering merges with mechanical engineering ─ a field that is based on physics but also incorporates biology and chemistry. The department seeks to endow students with a broad array of technological capabilities related to the development of machinery used in fisheries, the sustainable utilization of fisheries resources, and the conservation of marine environments, so that graduates can actively contribute to the industry in a wide variety of ways, including the development of machinery related to the marine environment, ships and food.

Students who graduate from this department and take up further study in Marine Engineering in the Advanced Course can obtain certification as a ship officer, enabling them to work as a chief engineer or engineer on a ship traveling on international waters.
