Curriculum
Pick a Track and Run With It
The health sciences major is intended for students who wish to pursue careers in allied health professions after completing their undergraduate career at Moravian University.
Students who declare this major choose one of four career-specific tracks: pre-athletic training, pre-physical therapy, pre-occupational therapy, or communication sciences and disorders—all of which leave room for electives in disciplines spanning economics to sports psychology. Another option: pick two tracks and leave your graduate options wide open. It’s all possible.
Health Sciences Mission Statement
The Bachelors of Science in Health Sciences, housed in the Department of Rehabilitation Sciences at Moravian University, aspires to educate students in a collaborative, interprofessional environment that fosters innovation, critical thinking, and lifelong learning through the liberal arts tradition while preparing students for graduate study in professional healthcare programs.
Students pursuing programs in the health sciences take Economics 156 (Economics & Business Statistics), Math 107 (Elementary Statistics), or another statistics course to fulfill their Quantitative Reasoning requirement.
All students, regardless of intended career or concentration, must complete Biology 103 and 104 (Anatomy and Physiology 1 and 2), as well as Psychology 120 (Introduction to Psychology) and Health 310 (Statistics and Methods for Health Professions (writing-intensive)).
In the third or fourth year of study, students have the opportunity to enroll in Health 285.2 or 285 Clinical Observer to complete the required number of clinical observation hours expected for enrollment into the graduate program of their choice. In the last term of undergraduate study, students enroll in the capstone course Health 385.2, Social Issues in Health Science.
