Introduction
The prepares students for careers in fitness and health promotion, strength and conditioning, and wellness programs. Graduates will find employment opportunities in both public and private health and fitness facilities and health care settings. We also prepare students for graduate study in physical therapy, exercise science, medicine, chiropractic, and nutrition.
Exercise Science is a field of study that focuses on the study of human movement, physical activity, and exercise. It involves the examination of the physiological, biomechanical, and psychological aspects of exercise, as well as the development of exercise programs for individuals and groups. The curriculum for an Exercise Science degree typically includes courses in anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, exercise physiology, nutrition, and biomechanics. Students may also have the opportunity to take courses in specialized areas such as sports medicine, strength and conditioning, or exercise psychology. In addition to coursework, students in an Exercise Science program may be required to participate in laboratory work, internships, or other experiential learning opportunities to gain practical experience in exercise science.
They may also have the opportunity to participate in exercise science clubs or professional organizations on campus. Graduates of an Exercise Science program may pursue careers in a variety of fields, including personal training, fitness instruction, athletic training, or rehabilitation. They may work in a variety of settings, including fitness centers, sports medicine clinics, or hospitals. Alternatively, they may choose to pursue advanced degrees in exercise science or related fields, such as a Master of Science in Exercise Physiology or a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Kinesiology.
