Introduction
We need managers who know the importance of an old growth forest, a brook trout running a mountain stream, or an elk roaming a fog-filled meadow. Yet, the world also needs sustainable buildings, cities, and resources for humanity. Montreat College rsquo;s Environmental Science program is preparing the next generation of Christian environmental professionals to do just that. Our program utilizes a biblical, liberal arts approach and combines coursework in biology, ecology, chemistry, geography, and natural resources.Environmental Science is a field of study that focuses on the study of the natural world and the impact of human activities on the environment. It involves the examination of ecological systems, the identification of environmental problems, and the development of solutions to those problems.
The curriculum for an Environmental Science degree typically includes courses in ecology, environmental chemistry, geology, climate science, and environmental policy. Students may also have the opportunity to take courses in specialized areas such as environmental law, environmental economics, or sustainable development. In addition to coursework, students in an Environmental Science program may be required to participate in fieldwork, research projects, or other experiential learning opportunities to gain practical experience in environmental science.
They may also have the opportunity to participate in environmental science clubs or professional organizations on campus. Graduates of an Environmental Science program may pursue careers in a variety of fields, including environmental consulting, natural resource management, conservation, or environmental policy. They may work in a variety of settings, including government agencies, non-profit organizations, or private corporations. Alternatively, they may choose to pursue advanced degrees in environmental science or related fields, such as a Master of Science in Environmental Science or a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Environmental Studies.
