Introduction
This program is a fusion of the traditional Mapúa strength (engineering and technology education) and an emerging strength: English proficiency. It provides students with a strong foundation in liberal education to prime them for the core of the program: the integration of communication principles and practices with the concepts in the sciences, business, and information and engineering technology. It develops in the students the ability to think clearly and analytically so they can communicate technical and scientific information to a wide audience range – from experts to lay. Graduates of this program may be hired as technical writers; copywriters; designers and editors of newsletters, brochures, manuals, and websites; designers of sales, marketing, and advertising campaigns; instructional materials developers; usability testers, information specialists; creative directors; public relations specialists; layout artists; researchers; and trainers.
Objectives
- Graduates will be technically competent. This includes having the ability to carry out psychological protocols in diagnosis, assessment, and intervention involving clients in various fields of psychological practice such as in the industrial, clinical, and educational settings.
- Graduates will be able to apply their knowledge and skills across wide facets of psychological practice, including marketing, teaching, community development, research, and other relevant professional areas where psychology practitioners are considered necessary.
- Graduates will be prepared for professional practice in psychology. Graduates will demonstrate an understanding of ethical, societal, and professional responsibilities, will recognize the confines of their knowledge and actively seek out autonomous learning opportunities, and will be able to function and communicate effectively both as individuals and within multidisciplinary teams
