Introduction
This program deals with the design, improvement, and installation of integrated systems of people, materials, information, equipment, and energy. The program draws upon specialized knowledge and skills in the principles and methods of engineering analysis and design to specify, predict, and evaluate the results obtained from such systems.
Graduates of this program may pursue a career in operations research, inventory management, facilities engineering, ergonomics, methods engineering, production and operations management, logistics and supply chain management, quality engineering, and systems engineering.
Vision
The School of Industrial Engineering and Engineering Management is committed to producing globally competitive industrial engineers through a state-of-the-art delivery of basic knowledge in science, math, humanities, and engineering as well as practical, technical, and managerial skills. Our graduates shall be able to plan, design, implement, and manage efficient and quality manufacturing and service systems in a professional and ethical manner.
In so doing, the School shall engage in cutting-edge research and actively understand and respond to the needs of its stakeholders.
PROGRAMS
The general objective of the School of Industrial Engineering and Engineering Management (IE-EMG) is to prepare students for a career in the field of Industrial Engineering and Service Engineering and Management. Graduates of the curriculum must have specialized knowledge and skills in the mathematical, physical, social, and basic engineering sciences together with the professional courses in IE, EMG and SEM.
A graduate of the Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering (BS IE) program:
- Must be able to perform services in the form of consultation, design, preparation of plans, specifications, estimates, implementation, and supervision of: work standards, process control, systems improvement, production and facilities plan, production and materials control, systems, operations research models, and information systems
- Is expected to be environmentally conscious
- Must be knowledgeable of professional responsibilities to ethics and laws
- Must be a total engineer utilizing knowledge in arts, sciences, and engineering
- Must be prepared for the conduct of research in at least one area in the field of IE
Program Educational Objectives:
Within the five years after graduation, the graduates of the Industrial Engineering/Service Engineering and Management program shall have:
- Undertaken, singly or in teams, projects that show the ability to solve complex engineering problems
- Had substantial involvement in projects that take into consideration safety, health, environmental concerns and public welfare, partly through adherence to required codes and laws
- Demonstrated professional success via promotions and/or positions of increasing responsibility.
- Demonstrated life-long learning via progress toward completion of an advanced degree, professional development/continuing education courses, or industrial training courses
- Exhibited professional behavior and attitude in engineering practice
- Initiated and implemented actions toward the improvement of engineering practice
