Introduction
The Degree Course in Industrial Engineering offers a broad spectrum engineering education including knowledge of the scientific bases, problems and basic operating techniques of industrial engineering in the electrical, energy, materials and industrial safety and protection fields, including skills in design, operation and maintenance of electrical and thermal systems and related distribution and monitoring networks.
In addition to the basic notions in the disciplines of Mathematics (including numerical), Physics, Chemistry and Computer Science (mainly located in the first year of the course), a set of knowledge relating to a nucleus of specific Engineering skills has been introduced Industrial in the sectors of Electrical Engineering, Technical Physics, Electrical and Electronic Measurements, Electrical Systems for Energy and Materials Engineering (mainly placed in the II and III year of the course). In this sense, the course of study that is being established proposes a combination of areas not typically present with this articulation at a national level. The student's preparation is completed by both characterizing and related disciplines belonging to the areas of civil-industrial engineering such as industrial design, fluid and solid mechanics, fluid machines as well as by a disciplinary set that allows an interdisciplinary approach the design, construction and maintenance of industrial structures (geotechnics and construction techniques); these disciplines are mainly placed in the third year of the course.
The "core" of the curricular preparation is in any case in the electrical/energy field, where specific and in-depth knowledge of Electrical Engineering and Electrical Technologies, Electrical Energy Systems, industrial applications of electric and magnetic fields, energy conversion and photovoltaics are imparted . The course also provides for the acquisition of skills on materials technologies, with particular reference to materials for energy.
The typology of the course is mainly methodological, but a company-type experience is strongly encouraged through the training and orientation internship tool (which is mandatory and corresponds to 6 credits), with particular attention paid to the "Erasmus Traineeship" program, and through specific training courses prepared by teachers who are experts in corporate relations and European planning, during which students will be followed by tutors.
Further specific educational objectives can be achieved within a basket of disciplines chosen by the student.
The educational objectives and the expected learning outcomes are designed in order to provide the graduate with the tools both for direct entry into the world of work in the field of Industrial Engineering and for the continuation of studies in the context of a Master's Degree Course ( within the educational offer of the Department there is a master's degree course in Engineering for the Environment and the Territory with a focus on the production of energy with low environmental impact). In any case, appropriate agreements are being stipulated with other universities, including foreign ones, for the continuation of studies by interested graduates.
