Introduction
The aim of the Faculty of Social Communications is to train both scientifically competent communication professionals and men who are aware and ready to engage and integrate the message of the Gospel into the new culture created by the means of Modern communication (...) with new languages, new techniques and new behaviors (see John Paul II, Redemptoris missio, 37), to identify what benefits and dangers this culture could present for African identity and values.
In order to achieve its objectives, the Faculty offers its students theoretical, practical and human training through its rich teaching, laboratories and professionalization studios, numerous workshops, seminars and conferences; A training program that aims to have its graduates carry out the following tasks:
(A) information
Gather useful documentation on a current topic, and make a relevant and objective analysis of the current problems.
(B) with regard to animation:
- to prepare and direct a meeting effectively, - to participate actively in the life of a group by encouraging the participation of others, - to work for the building of human relationships.
(C) in the field of mass media:
- develop effective messages for different target groups, - speak effectively in public, - act as press attaché and hold a press organ, - organize and carry out a radio or television program.
(D) in the field of public opinion:
- know how to assess the quality of a survey, - supervise the conduct of an investigation
E) in matters of pastoral communication and evangelization:
- to present validly the general lines of Christian doctrine, - to take a Christian view of current events, - to express the ethical meaning and the Christian symbolism in the transmission of religious knowledge.
The student of this faculty must develop scientific honesty in order to gain access to the inner world of the other, a spirit of synthesis capable of grasping the essence of a message, a general culture nourished by a good knowledge of the environment, Pushed for languages and languages and a great ability to adapt.
It should also develop the ability to disseminate, through the media, the teaching of the Church, the capacity to develop and carry out popular education programs, as well as to organize campaigns to raise awareness of development activities . The basic studies are spread over five years, ie 3 years of graduate and 2 years of license. The degree program in Social Communications may be supplemented by the Agregation of Higher Secondary Education (organized by the Department of Aggregation of Secondary Education, which operates within the Faculty of Philosophy Of the UCC) which empowers the licensee to teach in secondary schools.
At the postgraduate level, students can acquire the degrees of Advanced Studies, Doctor and Higher Education Colleges.
