Introduction
The Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics will provide you with a rigorous background in many areas of mathematics, computer science, and physics. When you complete the 50 credit hour BA in Mathematics at Lindenwood University, you will be well-equipped with strong analytical and problem-solving skills that will be valuable to employers in many technical fields. The BA in Mathematics degree also prepares students for graduate studies in mathematics and related fields.
All mathematics courses take a hands-on approach to master concepts and solve problems. All applied math courses use mathematical software to help construct solutions to problems in and out of the classroom. These courses will help you adapt material from engineering and sciences. Lindenwood's class sizes are small to allow for open classroom discussion and individualized attention.
Why Mathematics?
The study of mathematics shapes the way one thinks about problems and hones our ability for both abstract and analytical thought. It provides excellent background to model data, determine the optimal information, and to understand the spacial and temporal relationships that exist. A degree in mathematics can provide you with the tools necessary to solves problems in many scientific, technological, or business-related fields. One of the greatest strengths of mathematics is providing the firm foundation in the fundamental rules of abstraction and expression. Individuals obtaining degrees in mathematics find careers in a wide variety of fields such as finance, operations research, risk analysis, education, economics, and more.
