Introduction

The Bachelor in Visual Effects study has been voted one of the world's best VFX education and is part of Norway's largest art professional environment.
What will you learn?
This is an internationally recognized education for those who want in-depth expertise in compositing and planning/implementation of VFX recordings. The course places great emphasis on your creative and artistic development. This competence makes you attractive for larger productions within the Norwegian and international film and TV industry.
The degree has been developed in close collaboration with companies such as Storm Studios and Gimpville, and you get the opportunity for practice/internship in a company as part of the education.
Among other things, you will learn about:
- Advanced compositing
- Film photography
- 3D graphics for VFX
- Shot design
You must be motivated, as well as equally technical challenges. If you like to draw, photograph, make films or work in Photoshop, you could be the Visual Effects artist of the future.
This education has three tracks that make up the basic structure of the study:
The Foundations track
Here you learn basic techniques in:
- Light and composition
- Photograph
- Cinematography
- Visual communication
- Colour theory
The VFX track
Here it is the technical skills within VFX and 3D that we work with. You will learn to use all the tools you need to become good at:
- Keying
- Rotoscoping
- Color matching
- Tracking
You will work with 3D modelling, lighting and shading, as well as gain an understanding of the entire onset VFX process. Later in the Compositing track, you will learn advanced techniques such as 3D comp and Deep Compositing.
The Production track
The production track starts as early as the first semester of the study, where you get to take part in a production right from the script to the finished picture. You will go through pre-production where we look at storyboards and do VFX breakdowns. After filming, you complete the sequence together with the whole class in the post-work.

The Bachelor in Visual Effects consists of a total of 180 ECTS credits.
The study model is an extract from the program description. It gives you an overview of compulsory subjects and what opportunities you have for practice, exchange and specialisation. The bachelor's degree lasts three academic years. Each academic year is divided into two semesters. We reserve the right to make changes.
