Introduction

Bachelor in European Studies is a unique joint program organized by eight universities within the Una Europa alliance. It is a multidisciplinary program that aims to equip students with a fundamental understanding of aspects and values of the European Union and European states and societies. The extensive mobility program will teach students about Europe and expose them to the lived experience of unique European environments and cultures.

The program participant can choose one major module and one minor module out of two different specializations: Law and Criminology; Politics and International Relations; Communication, Education, Gender and Sociology; Business and Economics, Philosophy; History; Languages, and Culture. Throughout the program, students will be enrolled in a starting university (KU Leuven, Alma Mater Studiorum Università di Bologna, Universidad Complutense de Madrid, Uniwersytet Jagiellonski w Krakowie) and a second (and possibly a third) university from the list of mobility partners (Freie Universität Berlin, Helsingin Yliopisto, Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, University of Edinburgh).

About UNA Europa

Nine leading European research universities have come together to create a unique alliance – Una Europa. Our universities have been educating Europe for over 1,000 years. Together, we teach almost 450,000 students. Our combined student and staff community surpasses half a million people and our digital learners number in the millions. Una Europa aims to draw on our collective strengths to create a truly European inter-university environment, a University of the Future.

On the basis of their mission and values, the Una Europa partners have selected five Focus Areas to launch their collaboration. Each fosters multi-disciplinarity and includes most of the studies offered at our universities. The Focus Areas act as the initial thematic “glue” that ties our universities together in our mission to create a virtual campus.

At Jagiellonian University the study programme is conducted at the Centre for European Studies/Institute of European Studies, which is a part of the Faculty of International and Political Studies.

The Faculty of International and Political Studies has the A category granted by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education and was awarded for the quality of education by the Polish Accreditation Committee. The Faculty is the most international and interdisciplinary unit at the Jagiellonian University. It offers unique programs conducted in English, many of which are delivered under agreements with foreign universities. The Faculty provides students with an opportunity to study in a nationally and culturally diverse environment, both in Polish and foreign languages. This creates the space for getting to know each other and supports students' development during their studies and in their professional careers. The Faculty’s complex structure reflects the diversity of scientific research conducted in this unit. Therefore, students have an opportunity to study among specialists dealing with matters from almost every corner of the globe.

The Faculty of International and Political Studies headquarters is located in a modern building near the Jagiellonian Library, Błonia, and Jordan Parks. The Faculty has moved to a new facility in 2021, providing students with comfortable conditions and surroundings for studying. The building has four large auditoriums on eight floors, several dozen lecture and seminar rooms, a student zone, and rooms for employees. There is also a Faculty library with a spacious reading room.
