Introduction
Aircraft systems engineering is the field of study relating to the maintenance, safety, and airworthiness of aircraft. Aircraft system engineers support the development of on board flight systems, including flight controls. landing gear, electrical power, hydraulics, and avionics systems. The 3-year programme follows a practical hands-on approach to produce graduates who have the theoretical and practical know how to work within the evolving aerospace and maintenance repair (MRO) industries.
The Bachelor of Engineering in Aircraft Systems programme is structured to provide students with a real-world aviation work environment. SETU Carlow has an on-campus aerospace centre comprising a fleet of different fixed and rotary wing aircraft, a modern avionics laboratory and a wind tunnel for aerofoil design. These unique facilities ensure that students have an excellent learning environment to develop their theoretical and practical training during the three-years of the programme at SETU Carlow.
