Introduction

rtj

English Philology at International Black Sea University is the only BA programme in Georgia which is taught completely in English. It gives a unique chance to Georgian, as well as international students to get quality education and increase their chances for employability. The design of the programme (possibility to choose courses) gives students an opportunity to create their own, individual educational programme according to which they can reach their objectives and wishes. Students study wide range of courses related to their profession – language, culture, translation, pedagogy, psychology, methods of teaching, etc., which increase their competitiveness on labour market and provide successful development of their career.

Vision & Mission

The programme is delivered in English, so all courses contribute to development of verbal (English) communication skills. Besides, as in almost all courses students need to search for materials on the Internet, type papers and prepare Power Point presentations, they develop non-verbal (audio-visual) communication skills as well. As philology is a very cross-disciplinary and varied field, majority of courses enhance formation and development of an array of competences – knowledge of the English language, teaching skills, sound knowledge of pedagogy and English language teaching, awareness of cultural issues of major part of the English speaking world, interpersonal and communication skills.
