Introduction
Kristianstad University is a mid-size university in southern Sweden, just an hour away from Denmark and the European mainland. The university was founded in 1977, but we can trace our roots back to 1835 and the start of the teacher's training. Each year we welcome around 14,000 students, including 300 from various countries all over the world.
In Kristianstad, as in most of Sweden, we have fresh air, beautiful nature, and great surroundings – in fact, our Campus is located in a UNESCO-designated Biosphere Reserve. The Campus also offers all the facilities one needs for successful studies, including modern information technology, a library, student housing, sporting facilities, and, most importantly, easy teacher access. In Kristianstad and Sweden, teachers are easy to approach as we don’t have a hierarchical system at the university or the society.
In your studies you will be encouraged to think critically and for yourself but with the support of your highly skilled teachers. This will make you more innovative and teach you how to think outside the box – which will be of great value to your future employer. Our close connection to the business society and public organisations, combined with the hands-on experience you´ll get, will also benefit your future career.
As an international student, you have access to very good services in general including help with accommodation, pickup service at arrival, introduction week and social activities during your studies. Sweden as a country is known for its freedom, equality, sustainability and – to mention a few other things – the Nobel Prize, Ikea, Spotify, Abba, climate activist Greta Thunberg and football superstar Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Welcome to Kristianstad University where you will live and learn for the future!
