Introduction
The Science Education program is intended for students planning to be certified to teach Science in the Texas public school system as well as private schools.
The General Science 4-8 degree prepares students to teach grade-appropriate Science in 4th thru 8th grade in subjects such as General Biology, General Chemistry, Environmental Science, Geology, General Physics, and Astronomy.
The Life Science 7-12 degrees prepare students to teach grades 7-12 in class assignments such as: Science, Biology, Anatomy, Animal Science, Plant & Soil Science, Environmental Science, Aquatic Science, Medical Microbiology, and Forensic Science.
The Physical Science 6-12 degree prepares students to teach grades 6-12 in class assignments such as: Science, Chemistry, Physics, Engineering Design & Problem Solving, and Scientific Research & Design.
The Science Composite 7-12 degree prepares students to teach grades 7-12 in class assignments such as: Science, Biology, Animal Science, Plant & Soil Science, Anatomy, Environmental Science, Aquatic Science, Forensic Science, Chemistry, Physics, Engineering Design & Problem Solving, Scientific Research & Design, Astronomy, Earth & Space Science, and Environmental Systems.

Program Outcome
Students who complete this degree will be eligible to take the Texas certification test for one of the following certifications: General Science 4-8, Physical Sciences Composite 6-12, Life Science 7-12, or Science Composite 7-12. These certifications lead to Science teaching positions in 4th Grade thru 12th Grade.
