Introduction
Marketing is power. It creates and communicates a firm’s value offering that generates consumer motivation. Fundamental to success in marketing is having a sound understanding of consumer behavior and customer decision-making; understanding how to collect and use information about the marketplace, and an ability to integrate the components of the marketing mix to solve marketing problems.
These fundamentals to success are provided through required courses for the major. Optional courses enable students to obtain greater depth in functional areas of marketing such as promotion, personal selling, and channel management, or exposure to such exchange environments as retailing, nonprofit, and international marketing.
Marketing provides an opportunity to apply creative flair in advertising and promotions; interpersonal and communication skills in sales and customer relations; and analytical skills in marketing research and digital marketing.
