Consistent with the liberal arts tradition, the HSU psychology program encourages students to think deeply as they explore and critically evaluate interesting phenomena in human behavior and experience. Psychology majors have ample opportunity to build a body of knowledge in core areas, participate in research projects, and apply curriculum to diverse fields of study.

Multiple Degree Options
Students may choose from the Bachelor of Science (BS), Bachelor of Arts (BA), or Bachelor of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) degrees. Faculty advisors assist students in identifying which degree is best for their career goals.
Breadth and Depth of Faculty Interests and Expertise
All psychology courses are taught by doctoral-level faculty with degrees and expertise in the areas of clinical psychology, developmental studies, counseling, and family ministry. Department faculty teaches courses in both the undergraduate and the graduate program which allows for more diverse faculty representation in each program.

Majors are exposed to a challenging course of study in the core areas of psychology and are required to take additional elective courses to provide depth in sub-disciplines that support career development and meet admission requirements for specific graduate programs.
