Introduction
As a leading private institution of higher education in Kuwait, the mission of the Gulf University for Science and Technology (GUST) is to provide and maintain teaching excellence delivered on to nurture knowledge, critical thinking, and innovation. These qualities are primordially dependent on building a research environment whose capacities are consolidated through graduate studies programs that actively engage students and collaborative research projects. The office of Graduate Studies and Research encompasses four offices: graduate studies, research and development, research centers, and institutional effectiveness.
GUST’s graduate programs (currently contains the Master of Business Administration (MBA) program) enjoy international accreditation and hence present a promise to graduate postgrad students who are acknowledged, as per international standards, equipped with management and leadership skills, critical thinking capabilities, ethical standards. that ready them to meet the challenges of both local and international markets.
The Research and Development Office emphasizes enhancing GUST research outcomes in order to meet national interests and international standards and improve the international ranking of the University. The Research and Development Office activities aim at propelling GUST into a model of research-based learning environment, a quintessential step to ensure sustainable development.
The RDO facilitates faculty members finding adequate resources to provide funding for their research projects and intellectual contributions. It also provides advice to faculty on the preparation and submission of their research project proposals. In order to maximize the chances of obtaining grants, The Research and Development Office ensures that project themes are aligned with the national priorities. The Research and Development Office verifies the compliance to ethical codes, such as research conduct, budgetary accountability, and quality of scholarly publications.
The research centers at GUST offer an intellectual nexus that assures the collaborative spirit among the faculty as well as between the University and with the community. The centers provide integral scholar activities that encompass holding seminars, workshops, submission of joint research projects, hosting visiting scholars, and training sessions.
Graduate Studies and Research aim is to enrich the research foundation and dimensions to put GUST name as a leading research-based learning environment.
