Introduction
What is a Business Administration Degree?
A business degree is a valuable commodity in all manner of business environments–public or private, for-profit or nonprofit, large or small.
Building on business foundations in accounting, marketing, finance, economics, human resources, information systems, management, and organizational behavior, the business administration degree curriculum is enriched through practical applications, a global perspective, faculty mentors, and collaborative teams.
Whether you want to be a corporate manager, project lead, or an innovative entrepreneur, you can get there with a business administration degree from Florida Tech. Here, you'll develop a strong background in business and get hands-on experience in modern management strategies and best practices.
All accounting classes are approved by the Florida State Board of Accountancy for credit toward the requirements to take the CPA exam.
Build Professional Relationships
Beyond the classroom, business administration degree majors build leadership experience through exciting internships and participation in academic organizations like Delta Mu Delta (national business society), the Society for Advancement of Management, student government, and over 100 other student organizations.
Earn an Advanced Degree
After receiving their business administration degree, many of our business administration majors go on to graduate school (often at Florida Tech) to pursue their MBA.
Envision yourself at Florida Tech and imagine how far a world-class business administration degree will take you.
Business managers now must possess not only a knack for business, but also excellent organizational and communication skills, and up-to-date knowledge in the field.
Students at Florida Tech will:
- Develop a business plan for a new start-up or small business
- Integrate academics with business practices through our practicum program
- Learn about business and management practices from a global perspective
- Study with a diverse international student body
- Discuss business issues with successful entrepreneurs and managers
The program culture supports individual creativity, leadership, and team building while fostering ethical decision-making and diversity. The program has many opportunities that help you graduate into a flourishing business administration career after graduation.

Great Florida Location
Other Bachelor of Business Administration colleges can't compete with our location on Florida's Space Coast. Year-round warm weather, close proximity to beautiful Atlantic Ocean beaches, NASA Kennedy Space Center, the Indian River Lagoon, Port Canaveral, Sebastian Inlet, and a wealth of entertainment in Orlando make Florida Tech the college of choice. The university also offers a wealth of student organizations and intramural sports and is just minutes from the airport and highway travel.
Curriculum
Gain Practical Experience
Business students can explore business startups as their Major Field Practicum experience in Florida Tech's Student Business Incubator; a living, breathing center for new venture creation.
The incubator combines curriculum, facilities, and expertise to fully immerse students in a semester-long Lean LaunchPad program. As a senior, you'll complete the practicum in business, a professional internship course in which you apply your business skills and savvy within a dynamic local company. As a result, you get practical experience, an expanded professional network, and perhaps even a pre-graduation job offer.
Major Field Practicum
As a Bachelor of Business Administration student, you benefit from completing a Major Field Practicum in your senior year. The practicum bridges the gap between classroom studies and the real world, easing the transition from business student to industry professional. Each student is matched with a host organization of interest where he or she learns how the organization functions and gains practical insight into problem-solving and decision-making processes. You also gain experience in corporate social responsibility by becoming actively engaged in a community organization.
Curriculum
The Bachelor of Science in Business Administration is designed for students who want to study business in an environment that fosters creative thinking, diversity, ethical behavior, and leadership skills. Students learn to create value and manage change; value individual contributions and respect cultural social differences; make thoughtful decisions, set high standards and be accountable to stakeholders and society as a whole; and lead by fostering critical thinking, effective collaboration, and creativity in solving complex business problems. The skills and knowledge learned will permit students to contribute significantly to their chosen occupations after graduation.
The curriculum for the business administration major permits the student to acquire a foundation in all areas of business administration (accounting, business law, information systems, economics, finance, marketing, management, quantitative methods, and statistics). It includes a capstone experience in senior year that combines business plan research with practicum experience. The practicum allows students an option to start a business in the college’s Student Business Incubator.
After graduation, the business administration major has an excellent background in the business and management fields and can directly enter the job market, in commerce, industry, government, or other areas. Many students may wish to continue into graduate school or enter one of the professional fields such as law, where they will have had excellent undergraduate preparation.
