Introduction

The course that combines IT, medicine and natural sciences

Information technology is becoming increasingly important in the healthcare sector. For example, it helps to find the causes of diseases or develop medications and supports examinations and operations.

The Bachelor's degree program in Medical and Bioinformatics (MBI) produces globally sought-after IT specialists who solve demanding tasks with physicians and biologists through its broad training in computer science, data analysis and natural sciences.

After the first year of study, students can choose one of two fields of study: medical informatics or bioinformatics.

In numerous workshops and lectures, the course also provides an insight into the exciting topics of medicine and bioinformatics.

Important facts

Graduates of this course work in biotechnological and pharmaceutical companies, hospitals, doctor's offices, other healthcare facilities, research institutes and software companies. Thanks to their broad computer science training, they are also in demand in all areas of information and communication technology and artificial intelligence. Among other things, they deal with algorithm development, data and process analysis and the simulation of complex systems and models, such as the spread of infectious diseases.

Medical informatics specialists deal, for example, with imaging diagnostic procedures, eHealth, preventive and fitness systems, medical knowledge systems and virtual, three-dimensional
Surgery. Bioinformaticians develop programs or use analysis methods to identify mutations, diagnose diseases and develop new drugs on the computer.
