The Biological Sciences course at UFLA aims to train professionals with training to meet the growing demands related to the conservation of biological diversity and environmental adequacy of processes and services, production of basic research in the fields of cellular and molecular biology, physiology, genetics, ecology, botany, zoology, microbiology, with a view to interacting with professionals from areas considered applied and generating technology. The course emphasizes the training of teachers committed to the understanding of science, by understanding the concepts of the world, history, social context, theories, laws, methods, and concepts specific to Biological Sciences. To this formation, the didactics of sciences are added, guiding the training of the graduate towards the main advances in research in the teaching of Biological Sciences. To attend this training, activities are developed that include expository classes and practices in the field and laboratories of biology, microscopy, chemistry, informatics, geology, and visits to biological reserves. Such professionals will be qualified to work in research and/or teaching institutions, museums, herbaria, vivariums, industries, consulting companies, sanitation agencies, environmental preservation, parks, zoo botanical gardens, and government agencies.
