What it does?

The civil engineer is a professional with broad technical training. It is qualified to conceive, plan, design, build, maintain and solve problems in buildings, bridges, dams, tunnels, foundations, containment and stability of slopes, water supply, water resources, hydroelectric use; irrigation and drainage, water and sewage treatment, solid waste disposal and water pollution control, transport infrastructure, ports, airports, waterways, roads and transport operation.

What are the new skills needed by civil engineers?

In the second half of the last century, the mastery of design and construction techniques were the greatest requirement for a competent exercise of the profession of Civil Engineer. Today many other dimensions have been added. Understanding aspects such as project management, quality, environment, people management, globalization, innovation and entrepreneurship have entered the list of skills required for a first-class Civil Engineer.

In Civil Engineering at ESEG, disciplines are linked to the following areas:
