About
NEXT CLASSES BEGINNING IN FEBRUARY AND AUGUST 2019.
In the BA (Hons) Visual Effects for Film and TV degree, the focus is on the use of high technology computer animation and 3D compositing effects in live action scenes. Based on the creation of 3D content and design, the special effects professionals in the market develop projects, combining hyper-realism in computer graphics and digital effects with films and digital cinema, ranging from fire simulation, particles, characters and digital stunts, to chroma key and matte paint. High-quality compositing brings all these specialties to the canvas. Students can work in different sectors of the VFX industry, particularly in cutting-edge films, creating assets, compositing, technical and special effects directing.
If you are a high school student (or equivalent) of the Brazilian educational system, it is recommended to attend Foundation Art & Design, an intensive one-year course designed exclusively for students who wish to enroll in British baccalaureate courses, but do not have professional training. correspondent and/or work experience in computer graphics.
Careers
Graduates will be able to work in the growing and exciting field of computer-generated animation and visual effects. Seamless integration of effects with live action footage in feature films, TV and games includes creating photo-definite computer-generated assets, particle effects such as fluids and fire, physically recreating object dynamics, crowds, animation creatures and compositing, matt painting and camera matching.
Teaching methods

Stages
Internships are a valuable way to establish contacts in the market and understand the commercial reality of the chosen discipline.
That means students working across multiple sectors of the creative industries: in graphic, product or interior design consultancies; working as resident artists in galleries; producing objects and scenery for the TV and film industry; accompanying teachers in education; working with commercial photographers to students working in the music industry.

Course structure
YEAR 1 - LEVEL 4
Year 1 - Level 4 modules are common to 2D Animation and Character for Digital Media, 3D Computer Animation and Modeling, 3D Games Art & Design, and Visual Effects for Film and Television courses.
This year students are introduced to the field of digital animation, its broad concepts, context and skills. The modules have been designed so that students can develop basic knowledge and skills to enter Year 2 - Level 5.
Students learn hands-on using professional software, guided by short projects throughout the year.
Students can decide to change courses at the end of Year 1 - Level 4, always guided by coordinators and teachers. Exploring the possibilities of the following 4 courses (2D Animation and Character for Digital Media, 3D Computer Animation and Modeling, 3D Games Art & Design and Visual Effects for Film and Television), they make a safer and more informed decision, as they are clear about the requirements of the global market.

YEAR 2 - LEVEL 5
In Year 2 - Level 5, there are 60 specific credits and 60 common credits.
Semester A allows students to specialize in their chosen field, through short projects, and deepen their knowledge in the area.
Semester B involves a more creative and independent learning style. Working projects allow you to start the creative process from design to the completion of an animation, game or special effects scene. Students can choose to work in a group on a project, participate in a 'live' project or do an internship. This exposes students to professional standards and broadens their understanding of customer requirements.

YEAR 3 - LEVEL 6
During Year 3 - Level 6, students must develop independent research work in the specific area they have chosen. This work may include a pre-agreed, challenging briefing developed especially for him or a "live" project or a project from an academic partner.
The program requires the student to exercise initiative, personal responsibility and ambition, and to make decisions in complex and unpredictable contexts. Time and project planning and engagement with aesthetics and emotional/narrative content are assessed.
Students must present their work to a panel of professionals. Many of the works by students at the University of Hertfordshire in London have won awards in Britain and beyond.
